Migrant Workers Become Paskibra in Hong Kong

SHOUSON HILL | HONG KONG - Representative Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK), Saturday (17/8/2019), attended the Red and White Flag-Raising Ceremony in the framework of the 74th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (Republic of Indonesia) at the residence of the Indonesian Consul General (Konjen) at Wisma Puri Mandiri, Shouson Hill. We, students of Sunan Ampel State Islamic University (UINSA), Surabaya, participants of Student Outbound Mobility who are currently interning at DDHK to serve in Hong Kong, were also present to accompany the General Manager (GM) of DDHK, Imam Baihaqi.

The ceremony was held at 9 am Hong Kong time. Previously, invited guests gathered at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Hong Kong in Causeway Bay. The group departed using the bus provided to the Indonesian Consul General's residence complex located in the Aberdeen area. Arriving at the location, the invited guests were greeted with typical Indonesian snacks, such as steamed buns, risoles, onde-onde, and layer cakes.

While waiting for the ceremony to start, invited guests can enjoy the food that has been provided. Also, you can take pictures with the banner on the page of the Consul General's residence.

The ceremonial procession took place solemnly. The raising of the flag to the prayer reading went on smoothly.

What is interesting is that the Indonesian Independence Day commemoration ceremony which was held in Hong Kong, involved Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) as the flag-raising troops (Paskibra). They were prepared three months before the event. With careful preparation, their appearance is no different from Paskibra's appearance in Indonesia.

After the ceremony is over, invited guests are allowed to take pictures together and be friendly. The dishes provided are Indonesian culinary delights that remind us who are in a foreign country with our beloved home and hometown. Starting from Manado ice to pecel available.

After the activity, I immediately left for the Yau Ma Tei area, heading for the next event together with GM DDHK. We attended activities held together by Dompet Dhuafa University and DDHK: Program Graduation Dompet Dhuafa University & Entrepreneur & Education Seminar 2019.
