Like Hong Kong, Indonesia Also Cuts Quarantine Period

DDHK.ORG - The Indonesian government has cut the quarantine period for foreign travelers (PPLN), from 7 days to 5 days. Provided that the full dose of vaccine has been injected.

"The government has changed the seven-day quarantine rule to five days with a note that Indonesian citizens and foreigners entering Indonesia are required to have complete vaccines. For Indonesian citizens who have just carried out the first dose of vaccination, they still have to undergo a seven-day quarantine," said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, when giving a press statement after the Limited Meeting on Evaluation of the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM), Monday. , last January 31, 2022, virtually.

Luhut revealed that this policy was taken considering that most of the confirmed cases from people who had just arrived from abroad were Omicron variants. In addition, various studies show that the incubation period of this Omicron variant is in the range of three days.

"This step to reduce quarantine days also takes into account the need to reallocate the resources we have. The guesthouse that was previously used for PPLN quarantine will be prepared for centralized isolation (isoter) in line with the predicted increase in isoter demand for positive confirmed cases of OTG and mild symptoms," said Luhut.

As is known, the policy of reducing the quarantine period from abroad is also implemented in Hong Kong. Starting February 5, 2022, people coming to Hong Kong, including Indonesian migrant workers, are only required to quarantine for 14 days. Previously, Hong Kong implemented a mandatory 21-day quarantine.

Open international entrance to Bali

Furthermore, Luhut said, starting on February 4, the government will also reopen international entrances in Bali to boost the Balinese economy, which has been quite affected by the pandemic. "However, we will continue to open gradually, in stages, and continue," he said.

Luhut revealed, later the opening of the entrance to Bali is only intended for non-PMI PPLN. In addition to quarantine regulations, we will continue to follow the applicable circulars.

Luhut added that the government provided two additional options for the quarantine of PPLN. Namely, bubble quarantine in hotels or live on board ships. "Currently Bali also provides two additional options for PPLN quarantine, namely bubble quarantine starting at five hotels with a total of 447 rooms and six live on board ships that have been certified CHSE by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy," he said.
