Rules of Keeping Distance Extended to 9th June

Earlier, Wednesday, May 26, 2021, the Hong Kong Government announced that the current social distancing rule will be extended until June 9, 2021. It is hoped that this policy will strengthen the positive trend in handling the Covid-19 outbreak in Hong Kong.

"While the number of confirmed cases recently has been maintained at a low level, past experience tells us that easing social distancing measures could lead to a return to the epidemic situation. The current vaccine acceptance rate in Hong Kong is still far below the level that can achieve herd immunity. If, unfortunately, a new wave of epidemics arrives, we won't be able to build up herd immunity barriers for protection. In order to prevent a rebound from the epidemic situation, the Government will continue to maintain the current social distancing measures, ”said a spokesman for the Hong Kong Food and Health Bureau.

Among the provisions in this rule of guarding distance are restrictions on group meetings or get-together. "The ban on group gatherings of more than 4 people in public places will continue for a specified period of time," the Hong Kong Government announced on its official website. [DDHK News]
