20 People in Hong Kong and Macau Injured by Hurricane Lionrock

DDHK.ORG - Tropical Storm Lionrock, which reached its peak on Saturday, October 9, 2021, then left quite serious effects. At least 20 people were injured in Hong Kong and Macau as a result of the storm.

The Hong Kong Government Call Center, 1823, and the Department of Leisure and Cultural Services, for example, received 178 reports and one report respectively of a fallen tree. The Department of Drainage Services has confirmed six cases of flooding. Meanwhile, the Department of Civil Engineering and Development received three reports of landslides.

"According to the Hospital Authority, as of 4 a.m., 14 people (three men and 11 women) had sought medical treatment at a public hospital for typhoon-related injuries," a Hong Kong government spokesman said on Sunday, October 10, 2021.

In Macau, TDM Canal Macau reported, “Six people were injured in different incidents caused by Typhoon Lionrock.”

Through its official Facebook account, TDM Canal Macau also reported, the storm caused several minor incidents such as falling plaster from buildings, windows and commercial banners. When signal 8 was put in place on Saturday, traffic on the bridge was cut off, bus and special taxi services were suspended.

The Civil Aviation Authority reported that four flights were canceled and nine others delayed. The Health Bureau was also forced to suspend operations of the Nucleic Acid Test test site and the COVID-19 vaccination program. [DDHKNews]
