CORONA PLANT UPDATE: One Victim Killed First in Hong Kong

HONG KONG - A 39-year-old man living in Whampoa Garden, Hung Hom, and who contracted the Wuhan Coronavirus has died at Princess Margaret Hospital, Hospital Authority said, Tuesday (4/2/2020). It was the first death related to the coronavirus on record in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong resident who died on Tuesday had an underlying illness and had traveled to Wuhan on January 21. She had muscle pain last week and had a fever. He then sought treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and was transferred to an isolation ward at Princess Margret after his coronavirus infection was confirmed.

The man took the G306 high-speed train from Hong Kong to Wuhan and returned from Changshanan to Hong Kong on the G79 train on January 23. Her case is the 13th virus case reported in Hong Kong.

His 72-year-old mother has also been confirmed to have the Wuhan virus. Health authorities previously revealed that the couple lived in Block 1, Site 11, Whampoa Garden.
