Eating Beef is Haram because it is Difficult to Find Halal, What is the Ruling?

Eating Haram Beef because It's Hard to Find Halal

QUESTION

Assalamualaikum, Ustadz.

For example someone already knows that eating beef that is not slaughtered by Islamic means is tantamount to eating carcass meat, but because in work areas such as Aberdeen, Hong Kong, there is less meat that is halal certified So that you are forced to keep eating the meat, can it be a sin if you keep on repeating it?

Salam,

Fulanah

ANSWER

Waalaikumsalam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Yes, it is still sinful, because it is forbidden to eat the unclean thing which is allowed only to make a living, not to be consumed continuously. This has become the agreement of the scholars. Please check it in QS Al-Baqarah verse 173 and QS Al-Mâ'idah verse 3.

My advice, avoid consuming this meat. Or, buy the meat at a Muslim-owned or certified halal.
