Dompet Dhuafa Open Public Kitchen to Health Services in Flood Locations in NTT

DDHK.ORG - Disaster Management Center Team (RCD) Dompet Dhuafa, Thursday (8/4/2021) reported, conducting 4 action clusters at the location of the flash flood that hit East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Namely, the provision of public kitchens, health services, evacuation and logistics distribution.

For the soup kitchen cluster, on Thursday the DMC team Dompet Dhuafa provided more than 500 portions of packaged rice which were provided at 3 refugee post locations in East Adonara District, East Flores. Namely, at the Man 1 Weiwerang refugee post which accommodated 205 people, the Pondok Wahidiyah refugee post, which accommodated 41 people, and the Lamahala Village Office refugee post which accommodated 75 people.

For the health cluster, the team provided services at the Refugee Post at SD Impres Weiwerang and in Kampung Baru Saosina, by deploying 8 personnel consisting of doctors and medical volunteers from the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Medicine. Dozens of patients served were diagnosed with fever, cough, cold, and ARD.

As is known, the rain fell with high intensity in the early hours of Sunday (4/4/2021), at 01.00 local time, or WITA in the East Nusa Tenggara Province. As a result, on Sunday, at 10.00 WITA, there was a flash flood in East Flores Regency. Due to the high rainfall, it also resulted in large floods in several points in the NTT region.

As a result of the flood disaster, 138 people were reported dead worldwide, 61 people were missing, 129 people were injured, 1.700 families or about 4.829 people were affected, and 2.019 or 13.226 people were forced to flee. In terms of material losses, 688 housing units were severely damaged, 272 houses were moderately damaged, 154 houses were slightly damaged, 60 housing units were submerged, 1.992 housing units were affected, 87 public facilities were affected, and 24 public facilities were severely damaged.

DMC Team Dompet Dhuafa deployed 22 personnel to locations affected by flash floods in East Flores. Among them, they consist of doctors and medical teams, volunteers, and 12 officers for the provision of public kitchens. With the team Dompet Dhuafa, also joined by a 5-person medical team from Hasanuddin University consisting of doctors and volunteers.
