High Island Reservoir's Dam, a Tourist Spot with Many Amazing Photo Spots

DDHK.ORG - On Thursday (14/10/2021) it was announced that the green minibus number 9A bound for the High Island Reservoir's East Dam tourist spot in Sai Kung has started providing full day service on holidays. The full service is meant, the minibus operates from morning to night on Sundays and holidays.

This service is intended to provide convenience for hikers who are hiking. The reason is, High Island has a good photo spot and is a hot spot for pedestrians.

Many of them use the location in this tourist spot as a starting or ending point for their hiking trips. “There are various hiking spots around the dam, including Long Ke Wan, Pak Lap, Wan and Fa Shan,” wrote The Standard.

Minibus 9A is fully operational from morning to night, serving hikers to the High Island Reservoir's dam.

In the past, line 9A between Pak Tam Chung and the dam only operated until the afternoon on Sundays and holidays. So, when the minibus is not available, visitors can only walk back from Pak Tam Chung for about 2 to 3 hours to the dam. Alternatively, many hikers are forced to take taxis to or from downtown Sai Kung for a relatively high cost, over HK$100.

With the new schedule, minibus 9A will operate between 09:30 and 19:00 on Sundays and public holidays. Minibuses come every 20 minutes.

Hong Kongers welcomed and praised the arrangement. “Pedestrians waited three years for a full day's service. Others hope this arrangement can put an end to taxi overcharging," wrote The Standard, citing comments from a Hong Kong netizen.
