NTT Flood Victims Increase, 174 Died

DDHK.ORG - A total of 174 people died, becoming victims of the flash floods that hit East Nusa Tenggara (NT). That number is an increase from the 138 people previously reported DDHK News.

This was conveyed by the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo, at the online press conference, Saturday (10/4/2021), as quoted Indonesian CNN. "The last update flood victims in NTT 174 people died, and 48 people were missing," he said.

Doni emphasized that BNPB will continue to search for the missing people as much as possible. He explained that the search would only stop after obtaining approval from the families of the victims who were declared missing.

Victims died and people missing due to flash floods in NTT are scattered from several cities and districts. In Kupang City, 6 people died, in East Flores 71 died and 5 were missing, in Malacca 6 died, in Lembata 46 died and 22 were missing, in Ende 1 died, in Sabu Raijua 3 died and 5 were missing, in Alor 28 died and 13 missing, in Kabupaten Kupang 12 died and 3 were missing, and in Sikka 1 died.

Flash floods and landslides hit NTT on April 4. This disaster caused severe damage, resulting in blackouts, disruption of communication networks, and damaged infrastructure.

DMC Team Response Dompet Dhuafa

In several locations affected by the flood disaster in NTT, Tim Dompet Dhuafa continue to carry out various actions to help the victims. Starting from data collection of affected public facilities, carrying out cleaning actions, distributing logistics, to providing public kitchens and daily packaged rice.

Tim Dompet Dhuafa also distributing masks, providing health services and free medical treatment, as well as preparing drilled wells for bathing, washing, and toilet (MCK). Dompet Dhuafa also established 2 main posts in NTT. Namely, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) Post at RT.11 / RW.04, Waiwerang Kota, East Adonara, East Flores Regency and the LKC Post in Pukdale Village, Dusun 4, RT. 15 / RW.007, Kupang Regency.
