Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Hong Kong and Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK) received the Children's Friend award from child care activist, Seto Mulyadi. The award certificate was presented by Ka Seto during the "Ka Seto Goes To Hong Kong" event in the series of commemorations of National Children's Day (HAN) 2024 in the Ramayana Room of the Indonesian Consulate General, Saturday (3/8/2024) which was held by the Civic Children's Coalition.
The Friends of Children's Charter from Ka Seto was received directly by the Consul General, Mr. Yul Edison and the General Manager of DDHK, Ustadz Fajar Shofari Nugraha. The award presentation at the event which raised the issue of Mental Health & Child Protection with Ka Seto was also witnessed by the leadership of BUMN, Indonesian community organizations, and the Indonesian Consulate General's Dharma WanitaSatu (DWP).
"If there is standardization or parameters with the program, then if it is not implemented this award can be revoked," said Consul General Mr. Yul.
As Consul General of Children's Friends, Consul General Mr. Yul said he was happy with the visit of Ka Seto and the team to Negeri Beton which took place on 2-4 August 2024. While reminding him, this award means that the Indonesian Consulate General is considered a child-friendly institution. This means that the Indonesian representative office for Hong Kong and Macau must have a program for the empowerment and protection of children and women.
Likewise, Ustadz Fajar welcomed the award received by DDHK. “It is an honor and a challenge to receive this award. The challenge is how DDHK can maintain this trust well, the trust to be a friendly friend to mothers and children. "Hopefully DDHK can maintain this trust as well as possible," he said.
Ustadz Fajar explained that currently DDHK has several programs implemented specifically for Indonesian children, both in the Land of Concrete and in Indonesia. These include the TPQ (Al-Qur'an Education Park) Program for Indonesian children in Hong Kong, the DDHK Ramadhan Kilat Islamic Boarding School, and the Mustahik Service for Children in Indonesia.
On the occasion of being in Hong Kong, Ka Seto together with the Indonesian Consulate General and the team also visited Pathfinders, Home of Love and several other non-governmental organizations. Ka Seto also held an interactive dialogue with DDHK volunteers. He and his team took the time to visit the DDHK shelter in Causeway Bay on Sunday (4/8/2024).
From discussions with the Indonesian Diaspora in Hong Kong, Ka Seto conveyed the message of the importance of the Indonesian Consulate General having a Mental Consultation Service for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI). Apart from that, the Indonesian Consulate General is also expected to have a special program for migrant families so that long-distance care for PMI children can remain optimal.
